Low clouds in Stanwell

Last Sunday was a dump day in Stawell, wet with low level clouds covering tops of the cliffs. Despite this I had almost 2 hours flight practicing full speedbar flying, controlling the glider with C risers, dumping the surges with speedbar and initiating them with speedbar. A couple of deep wingovers and collapses just to remind myself how to deal with them. Fun after all!

Tandem with Ovy

In November 2013 I finally got my tandem licence with Mitsi's help. Then I bought all equipment and I was waiting for good weather as well as for Ovy to have an afternoon off. These two factors finally combined and I had a nice flight with her for about an hour along Stanwell ridges. We didn't go too far North and we did not cross the village to the South but we still had plenty of fun. Sharing flying is totally different experience and we both really liked it ! Nova tandem handles great just like sporty EN-B glider, very responsive.

Gusty Blackheath

On Saturday I had a short flight in Blackheath. Right after take off the wind picked up and I was flying backwards. Pushing speed-bar released me from the compression zone of the hill and I went forward to avoid being blown to the lee side. The is almost no landing options in the bushes. Then I played a bit in  the thermals with birds and then I went to the landing zone. The wind was gusting up to 17 knots and it is not fun to fly in such conditions.
